Bare Bones Film Fest and MORE...

Bare Bones Film Festival's opening weekend was the same time as the Chili Cook Off. The Cook Off offered Bull-Riding... nuff said.

Does this look like fun?

Yeah, it looks easy. Doesn't it?

Ouch! Maybe not.

Bare Bones brings Producers and Directors to their audience!

Sunday, April 19th @ 10:00am in the Roxy Balcony, Bare bone Film Fest held a INDIE DIRECTORS PANEL of Hot Topics.

It was provocative as well as quite revealing. It was truly a behind the scenes dialogue between Directors, Producers and audience members. This is what film festivals are best at providing and why you should find your way to a film festival soon. The audience is invited to ask questions, as speakers share the challenges and triumphs of working with actors, writers, cinematographers and crew before, during and after production.

This event featured (photographed below from left to right):

Eric Schroeder (www.Onlyness.com)

Nathan Rulf (www.TheChineseRoom.com)

Deja Bernhardt ( www.skwattacamp.com)

Chad Christensen (www.chairfilms.com )

Richard Smedley (www.itcamefromoveryonder.com)

Below Eric "Wrigley" Schroeder and Nate Rulf field an audience members question.

The panel discussion was videotaped and should be available sometime after the festival ends this weekend. Keep checking with Bare Bones for more information. http://barebonesfilmfest00.tripod.com/index.html

Let's all wish ShIronButterfly and Oscar and all the other Bare Bones Family a fabulous closing weekend to their 10th year!

Onlyness Screening - A success!

April 17, 2009

Onlyness... death understands

screens at the Roxy in the heart of Muskogee, Oklahoma at 7pm.

It was a great experience. There is a fantastic vibe when people gather with something in common. MovieMakers/Filmmakers and those who love Film/Movies came together to watch projects that exemplify the spirit of independent film making.

Hollywood is alive in Milwaukee, WI. Scotty O. and I have enjoyed participating in the festival. We met many new people. Conversation focused on Movies/Film, TV, Video Production and much more were abound. It truly was an adventure.

While it took place in OK, it made me realize that Hollywood is very much a part of Wisconsin. The 99% Wisconsin based cast and crew that worked on Onlyness should be proud. Their work was a standout among the festival's screenings. I have had the pleasure of working with each and every one of you... I am WI proud and waxed lyrically about them to all who we had met (Waxed lyrically = spoke of in high regard -- just always wanted to use the above in context).

In fact, I am building the sign below in my backyard! JK

Pictured here are Nancy Apple and Nate Rulf... Two filmmakers we hung with while taking in one of Muskogee's down-home bands at Jasper's Bar. Check out the B-side link on our website http://www.onlyness.com/ and look for Nancy's and Nate's work. They are cutting edge.

I will post more pictures and videos when I get a chance. I leave you with a picture of Scotty O. Is that a Miller Lite he's drinking. Kinda! See... in OK you can't get beer. You get near beer (only 3.2 % alcohol compared to the 6-point stuff we get).

The good news was that the vodka was excellent!

What 6am looks like in Our Country's Heartland !

Onlyness is screening in a Film Festival in Muskogee, OK. So, we decided to road trip. Next time, Cheek, Danny, Nolan, Brian B... you got to find the way to join us.

I worked until midnight at Kelly's and then hit the road with Scotty O. promptly @ 2:30am (Thursday Morning). I can't tell you what is worse -- pusing your limits like that or seeing the sun come up at 6am and not be able to blame it on a good night of partying. Listen to the music in the background of the video below and don't laugh!

Scott and I drove for 13.5 hrs and then went directly to the Bare Bones Film Fest. We checked in and then got a bite to eat at Max's. A bar/restaurant that has a great roadhouse feel. Muskogee's best! http://www.myspace.com/maxsgarage

We had a great time and met Annie B. ( www.myspace.com/annetmarie ). She's the woman from Bay View (Milwaukee). Much luck and Love to her as she works her way across America to get back to LA.

We are meeting some cool people. Went to the Hotel Bar for a night cap and met good people. We are linking via facebook and I will make more posts on the blog. Gotta run and donate to the Casino before we screen tonight.

Oh, don't ask me about the three cop car road stop in Muskogee. I was lucky and got off with a warning. But, three troopers were ready for a battle.

I wasn't drunk, but I was full. Scott and I ate at the place below. Large portions and delicious! Kathy waited on our table and was a pleasure. You can tell by the sign below that we were in for some Southern Hospitality.

A Day Of Reckoning - Day One of the Bare Bones Experience

What Up Y'all? I have been learning to speak OKLAHOMANESE...

I will post pictures and links tomorrow cuz, I haven't slept more than two hours in a couple days and it is bed time.

But, exciting news: Scott and I met a Happy Hour, One Woman Band type performer who is from Bay View. We have many small world stories like that, plus the first night screenings and Q&A was fun.

Our movie screens at 7pm, Friday eve. Prime Time!

The Genesis

It's official. Capture Life Productions is now Bloggin'!

This Blog has been set up as I embark on my first film festival (The Bare Bones Film Festival : http://barebonesfilmfest00.tripod.com/index.html ) for my short project entitled ONLYNESS ( http://www.onlyness.com/ ). The bitter sweet part of it all is that we are also an Official Selection in another festival screening films on the same dates ( The Wildwood Film Festival : http://www.wildwoodfilmfest.com/ ). I wish I could be in both places, but... My Producer on ONLYNESS, Patricia Hastings, will represent us in Appleton, WI for Wildwood, while I will travel to Oklahoma for Bare Bones. I wish both events much success. It is through such events that our art can thrive.

It's an exciting time and I will enjoy documenting it on this blog as well as hearing from those who we meet along our journey. TTYL! best- Wrigs
